35 years of logistics consultancy
Text Box: Founded in 1970 as the National Materials Handling Centre, we were known to everybody as “NMHC”. We were set up by the Government of the day, in association with the Institute of Materials Handling and Cranfield Institute of Technology to help British Industry become more competitive. Text Box: Our current Managing Director, Roger Gutteridge, has pledged to maintain those traditions of service and innovation started 35 years ago by the National Materials Handling Centre at the same time as developing the business to meet the exciting challenges of this new Century. Text Box: Today, we operate the consultancy under the name of Supply Chain Planning Limited and training under the banner of the Logistics Education Centre. We are still based on Cranfield University Campus although we are now independent of the University. Text Box: Under Ken the company gained some independence from the University and adopted the name of Cranfield Logistics Limited for the consultancy although retaining the name NMHC for the education and information services.
